My headache was so sore that I could not think of a travel plan. Since Morag told me about a nice walk towards the river, I started from náměstí Miru. As I walked past a junction, I was distracted by a magnificent building at a distance. I decided not to use the map. I used my instint instead. Eventually, I ended up at the National Museum. At first I thought most travel books did not have good photos of Prague. When I arrived at this building, I realised the difficulty - It is too huge to be photographed! It was still under renovation and you can see machine gun damages on the pillars.
I did not go into the museum which was famous for it interior design.
In front of the museum was the famous Václavské náměstí/Wenceslas Square. It was previously known as the House market. This was where the Velvet Revolution overthrew communism. I always remember the newspaper headline with this picture (I took the similar view)
Looking at Vaclavske namesti from the museum.
The Monument of the Victims of Communism.
State Opera House
This is a famous designer hotel which appeared in "Mission Impossible".
Have a closer look of its art noveau style.
Second difficulty to take photo in Prague was construction work everywhere! This beautiful neobaroque building was also under renovation so I could only snap from an angle.
Other difficulties to take pictures were tram cables and avoiding strange people staring at your camera!
Then the map pointed to a wrong direction and I was lost! My headache deteriorated....
I saw a young woman wearing nearly nothing below her coat. She must be wearing a mini-skirt underneath but I wondered what she worked as. My headache was driving me nuts. Then I saw this well-dressed lady walking into a little passage leading to some benches. I followed her and wondered if I could walk into the courtyard. Fallen maple leaves and a picture of Chris and the Mother seem so peaceful. I quietly walked into this place that I suspected to be a church.
Out of my surprise, this little church was full of people praying. The Gothic interior was so delicate and soothing. I prayed to God for a peaceful mind and relief of headache. I was so touched that these Czech people were still in touch of their religion despite opposition by communism. As I talked out of the chapel, I thought my headache was better. Can you see the little magic door through which I walked into this undisturbed world?
This was the nice roof top outside the church. It contains Josef Jungmann, a scholar of language and lexicographer. Anyway this square was full of shopping malls and hotels, the range of standard of buildings varied so much. Well, I decided to take some fast food sausage on the street. The pigeons were fighting for leftover food and hit my poor leg!
PS: The mystery church is 小教堂是 the Church of Our Lady of the Snows.
